LP Board Members Hold Second Narcan Distribution Drive at SVDP Food Pantry

This weekend, The Lumina Project held its second Narcan distribution event at the St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) Food Pantry, where our Board Members handed out 100 free Narcan/Drug Overdose Prevention kits to local community members. While the number of kits distributed was a success in itself, what stood out most were the conversations and relationships built throughout the day. Events like this remind us that real impact often happens one interaction at a time.

One of the most memorable connections we made was with Nancy, a passionate patient advocate who shared deeply personal stories of her own experiences with drug use and the friends she’s lost to overdose. Her openness and commitment to this work were inspiring. We hope to work with her to identify local high-need areas, such as Thornton’s Gas Station and tent encampments, where our outreach could have the most impact. In a moment that reflected the spirit of LP—small acts of care turning into larger change—I even helped her air up her tires before she left.

We were also approached by a fellow SVDP volunteer and local teacher, who raised the important question of how Narcan could be introduced into school environments where it’s critically needed. His suggestion opened the door to a new avenue of impact, and we’re excited about the possibility of working together to expand education and access. The overwhelming gratitude we received from the community fuels our mission to keep showing up, distributing resources, and creating meaningful partnerships wherever possible.
