This week, two of our Lumina Project board members had the privilege of volunteering with Home Sweet Home Ministries (HSHM), furthering our mission to introduce LP to the local community and establish meaningful partnerships. Initially, our plan was to assist with meal service, but we soon found ourselves immersed in a variety of tasks essential to the organization’s daily operations. From assembling goodie bags to dishwashing and organizing food and equipment storage, we embraced every opportunity to contribute, gaining a deeper appreciation for the behind-the-scenes efforts that keep HSHM running smoothly.

Beyond the hands-on work, we were given a brief tour of the facility, which provided valuable insight into the comprehensive support HSHM offers to those in need. One of the highlights of our visit was connecting with Mike, a resident and dedicated volunteer, whose warmth and perspective offered a firsthand look at the impact of community-driven service. Through these interactions, we not only learned more about HSHM’s mission but also reinforced our belief in the power of collaboration to drive meaningful change.
This partnership marks just the beginning of our work with HSHM, and we are eager to continue building on this relationship. As we look forward to our next visit this coming Sunday, we remain committed to fostering connections that empower both organizations and the individuals they serve. The Lumina Project is grateful for the opportunity to engage with such a dedicated team, and we’re excited to see where this collaboration leads in the future!
