LP Joins ISU TV-10 News for 'Good Afternoon Blono' Interview Segment

Wednesday, February 4th, 2026 Yesterday, the Lumina Project had the incredible opportunity to be featured on Good Afternoon Blono, a student-produced news segment by ISU TV-10 at Illinois State University. On the show, co-founder Quentin Irwin and longtime member Cody Kurcab sat down with the hosts to share the story behind Lumina Project’s founding just over a year ago and to explain what drives the organization’s mission. Their conversation brought meaningful visibility to the heart of our work - supporting people experiencing homelessness through compassionate, direct outreach in Bloomington-Normal and surrounding communities.

During the interview, Quentin reflected on the motivation that led him and fellow Bloomington-Normal natives to launch LP, emphasizing a deep desire to bridge gaps in support for unhoused neighbors that often go unseen. He also shared insights into how our mission was shaped by lived experience and community connections, and detailed how the Lumina Project’s hands-on approach differs from more traditional service models. Rather than offering only temporary assistance, LP focuses on building trust and relationships by meeting individuals where they are and helping in tangible ways through consistent, respectful engagement.

Cody also walked viewers through the organizational structure of LP, explaining how volunteers coordinate outreach, prepare resources, and plan logistics for each visit. For example, they talked through the careful preparation that went into our most recent visit to local homeless encampments, and the obstacles that dynamic weather and environmental conditions pose this time of year. Their reflections offered ISU students and community members a behind-the-scenes look at what it truly takes to serve with intentionality and humility, and why those details matter so much to the people we aim to support.

This appearance comes on the heels of another exciting milestone: Lumina Project’s recent formation of an affiliated registered student organization at ISU. This development promises to expand our reach and impact by introducing our mission and service opportunities to a broader population of students eager to engage in community service. Looking ahead, we hope to establish a similar student chapter at University of Wesleyan here in Bloomington, IL - creating even more avenues for young leaders to stand alongside and serve their unhoused neighbors. Our segment on Good Afternoon Blono wasn’t just an interview - it was an invitation to a wider community to join us in meaningful outreach.
