This past weekend, The Lumina Project had the privilege of partnering with Chestnut Health Systems and Barb Brumleve, a Community Health Specialist at McLean County ROSC (Recovery Oriented System of Care), for a tabling event at a local festival in Bloomington. Together, we distributed free Narcan, Deterra Drug Deactivation Bags, and Fentanyl/Xylazine testing strips to attendees, ensuring that lifesaving harm-reduction tools were made accessible to those who need them most.

More than just a distribution effort, the event sparked dozens of important conversations. Community members shared personal stories of recovery, loss, and resilience—many leaving with new knowledge about overdose prevention and available treatment pathways. These moments of connection remind us why we do this work: to meet people where they are, reduce stigma, and bridge the gap between awareness and action.

This collaboration with Chestnut Health Systems and McLean County ROSC is part of our ongoing mission to build trust, share resources, and expand our impact throughout Central Illinois. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to stand beside committed partners in the fight against substance misuse and overdose. The Lumina Project remains dedicated to growing these relationships and continuing our outreach wherever the need is felt.
